And the Winner is? - No One!

When all sides lose, can there really be a winner? What do you say?... "na-na-na-na-na-na... we lost less than you did!"  Here is another disappointing article that is more common than you might imagine.

The Biggest Losers:

The Customer – An association and their 5,000 attending members – literally had to pick up and find a new venue to hold their August 2011 annual meeting.

Taxpayers – What the hell did we do to deserve this? We’re picking up a $180 million dollar tab for the Hilton hotels.

Local Business – 5000 customers canceling flights and rental cars, won’t patronize restaurants, malls, shopping centers, dry cleaners, etc.  Millions lost.

Workers – Both Union and temporary workers suffer at the hand of management, government and those who basically won’t have their daily lives or personal pocketbooks directly impacted by their decisions.

There is no winner in this story – only losers who claim to have won by believing someone else lost more - unless you’re including the “management-side defense attorneys.”

Julie Wernau at the Chicago Tribune provides a link to a list of Hotels on strike, under boycott or at risk of a dispute. One more reason I thank my lucky stars I’m in Texas, a right-to-work-state.
